Development Procedures

The basic procedural rules to be followed by ISO committees for the development (and subsequent maintenance) of International Standards and other ISO deliverables comprise the core requirements described in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 1, Procedures for the technical work together with ISO-specific procedures described in the Supplement - Procedures specific to ISO (the "ISO Supplement"). ISO/IEC JTC 1 (Information technology) has adopted modified and additional procedures, and reference should thus instead be made to the ISO/IEC Directives, Procedures for the technical work of ISO/IEC JTC 1 on Information technology. The basic procedures are supplemented by procedures relating to other forms of standards development partnerships and agreements, such as those relating to the Agreement on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement). In addition to basic development procedures there are a number of additional guidelines and special procedures.
