Basic troubleshooting for the ISO Template
In the case of problems using the ISO template, please verify the following before reporting the problem.

  1. Your Microsoft Word version is 6.0a or later (Word 97 has not been tested yet).
  2. The ISOSTD.INI file is in the Windows directory (usually C:\WINDOWS) and is not currently open.
  3. You are using the correct version of the template (look in the File menu; Templates... Option to see if your document is based on the ISO template, version 3.0).
  4. No other Microsoft Word add-ins or global templates that may interfere with the ISO template are currently loaded. (Look in the File menu; Templates... Option and, if necessary, de-select the loaded items.)
  5. You have sufficient resources to load the ISO template (look at the Help menu; About Microsoft Word...; button System Info...); you must have at least 20 % of the system resources free to use the ISO template correctly.
  6. The language version of Microsoft Word you are using. If you are using a Microsoft Word version in a language other than English or French, try (if possible) using the ISO template with an English version of Microsoft Word.If you find that the problem is related to the language version of Microsoft Word, please submit a technical query indicating the Microsoft Word version and language and save a copy of the problematic document as Text Only (to show the erroneous field(s)); then go back to the document, display the field codes (Tools Menu; Options...; View Tab) and save another copy of the file as Text Only. Send the two files via E-mail or on diskette to one of the ISO/CS technical contact persons.
